I have created three versions of the Rosemaling Angel, and each version can be created to stand on her skirt, supported with a cone of Pellon, stiff Vilene or something similar, or to be an ordinary flat embroidery design. The optional wings of the angels feature my take on hardanger lace which comes from Norway as does the Rosemaling. The wings can be prepared in advance and stitched on sheer fabric or there is a free-standing lace version featuring Hardanger lace. There is also a panel of free-standing lace which can be inserted into the apron. The angels plaits should be trimmed on the back to create tassels after the embroidery is complete. The green version features rosemaling embroidery and has been designed to stitch out on sheer fabric giving a light lace effect to the angel. Tulle or organza will support the main part of her skirt and I like to use Sulky soft N sheer stabilizer for this. The main sections of this angel are not a free-standing lace, only the wings. The red version has been created to be embroidered on fabric but retains the rosemaling embroidery. The satin edging, stitched last, should reflect the colour of your fabric and the edges need to be trimmed carefully. The Bunad version has a more traditional Norwegian look. The skirt has embroidery around the lower edge. The apron and bag are prepared in advance and are added under the waistband. I suggest black felt for the skirt of this angel, as this gives a wonderful look, and it is easy to trim the designs. However in studying Bunads from all the various regions of Norway, I see that they are available in many colours. It is possible to stitch the angel with only a 180mm x 130mm (5x7) hoop by embroidering out each section of her skirt and joining them together with narrow seams. January 2024 update: Some customers were shown the proposed features and preferred to omit the chin, so the relevant designs in this set, have been adapted so the features can be added, and the chin omitted. Each nose, mouth and set of eyes are stitched out in one colourway so you can easily swap and edit them around in your software before embroidering. The faces are only included so you can see where they should be placed. There are now two capes for your angels, each in the different version of the angel. The little bag has been updated as well.
