These distinctive Rosemaling machine embroidery designs capture the beauty of this Norwegian art form. After visiting Norway in 1972 and having the privilege of wearing the beautiful Hardanger bunad costume with its crown, metal jewelry and intricate decoration at the Utne Folk museum, I have long wanted to digitise some designs to capture Rosemaling which translates to "decorative painting". I purchased a small box with Rosemaling and have loved the simplicity of the painting. Although every area of Norway has its own distinct Rosemaling, these designs do not reflect a specific area. Scroll down for more details about my visit to Norway. These little designs celebrate my 6th Anniversary and will look great embroidered on black fabric!
