When I started digitising this collection, I was inspired by the exquisite lace worn in centuries gone by, particularly the collars and fichus. Lace was regarded as a symbol of wealth because of the time and craftsmanship involved in its creation. It was common for young children to wear smaller versions of their mothers’ clothing. I have embroidered some of these designs on sheer fabrics, including English cotton lace, and I was thrilled with the results. These designs are perfect for Christening gowns and other heirloom projects.
